Penticton
is located in the Okanagan Valley in the South Central part of B.C.,
Canada. Just 40 minutes from the U.S. border and four hours drive
from Vancouver, or eight hours from Calgary. Penticton is located
in the heart of the fastest growing region of British Columbia and
is known as Canada's Sun Belt. With an area market population of 250,000
and an urban population of over 32,000, Penticton continues to grow
steadily, attracting young families and supporting a significant retired
population base with stable spending power. Penticton offers all the
amenities of larger urban centers together with the charm and character
of a smaller community. With two large freshwater lakes and miles
of sandy beaches for recreation and relaxation, it's no wonder that
most Canadians rank Penticton as one of the most desirable place to
live and work in Canada. |
Named
by the Nomadic Salish Indians, Pen-Tak-Tin was "A place to stay
forever." The city limits encompass 10,988 acres, 1,130 feet above
sea level. and receives only 11 inches of precipitation per year!
Moderate annual average temperatures, very comfortable humidity
levels and short winters contribute to Penticton’s appeal.
Recreation
and lifestyle opportunities abound, including the Valley’s best
summer beaches. There is also riding, hiking, tennis, fishing, or
just good shopping; plus other recreational facilities such as:
Curling, skating, hockey, swimming, and three major ski resorts
within easy distance. There are more than two dozen golf courses
within an hour drive of the city. Numerous cottage wineries, local
service clubs, volunteer organizations, and fraternal organizations
all help to enhance the community.
